Honoring the Overturning of Roe v. Wade

June 24, 2022 marked a historic turning point in our nation’s story — the day Roe v. Wade was overturned. For the first time in nearly 50 years, the power to protect life was returned to the people. It was a day of justice. A day of answered prayers. A day when truth pierced through darkness.

And today, we pause to celebrate what this day means.

Since the monumental US Supreme Court decision, 13 states have enacted full abortion bans with 19 states enacting legislation that protects life at or before 12 weeks gestation. Of those 19 states, four of them have enacted bans after a fetal heartbeat is detected (as early as 6 weeks).

But the work isn’t finished.

While Roe has fallen, the abortion industry has not. Organizations like Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, continue to fight for abortion access at every stage of pregnancy. Though they brand themselves as champions of women’s health, over 90% of their pregnancy-related services are abortions — not prenatal care or adoption referrals. According to their own Annual Report, Planned Parenthood performed more than 402,000 abortions last year alone. That’s 9,515 more lives lost than the previous year.

This is what we’re up against. But we’re not discouraged.

In fact, we’re more encouraged than ever. The US Senate is expected to vote before July 4, 2025 on a bill that would effectively eliminate federal Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood. The reality is, the pro-life movement has never been this close to defunding America’s biggest abortion chain.

Even now, pro-life organizations across America are organizing a coordinated day of demonstration — from assembling at Planned Parenthood facilities across the nation to gathering in Washington, DC, Saturday, June 28, for the Nation’s Largest Diaper Drive (where there will be hundreds of thousands of EveryLife diapers on display, one for every baby lost to abortion at the hands of Planned Parenthood last year).

So today, let’s do more than remember. Let’s recommit. Let’s get involved. Let’s raise our voices for the voiceless. Let’s build a culture where every baby is loved, protected, and celebrated.

Because every life is precious.
