A Newsweek OpEd Just Said What We've Been Saying All Along
Isabel Brown — bestselling author, Daily Wire podcast host, and one of the most influential voices of Generation Z — published an op-ed in Newsweek, one of America's most widely read publications, saying exactly what ReThink Pregnancy was built to say.
The piece is titled "America's Fear of Pregnancy Has a Price — and We're All Paying It." And it is worth every minute of your time.
Brown argues that an entire generation of women has been handed a distorted story about pregnancy — one built on fear, worst-case scenarios, and algorithmically amplified trauma. From middle school health class to TikTok feeds to mainstream women's media, pregnancy has been framed almost exclusively as something dangerous, limiting, and to be avoided. The result, she writes, is a generation of young women who desperately want children but are genuinely terrified of the journey to get there.
"Of course physical pregnancy complications can and do happen. Of course some women experience profound hardship. Pregnancy is serious because motherhood is serious. But what our generation has inherited was not the full story, or even a particularly true story."
She then does something remarkable. She names what that generation was never told.
Brown references the cancer risk reductions, the immune system benefits, the neurological changes, and microchimerism — the science that shows a piece of every child stays inside a mother's body permanently. She cites Dr. Christina Francis of AAPLOG directly. And she links to ReThink Pregnancy as the campaign doing the work of telling women the full truth.
This is what earned media looks like. A Gen Z voice. A national platform. The science we've been amplifying since May — now reaching an audience that may never have found us otherwise.
We are grateful for Isabel Brown's courage in writing it. And we are grateful that Newsweek gave it a stage.
The conversation is spreading. And the science is only getting louder.
